How to Use Ritual Oils: Bringing Intention Into Your Everyday Life

How to Use Ritual Oils: Bringing Intention Into Your Everyday Life

One thing I love about ritual oils is that they don’t have to be complicated.

When people hear words like ritual, anointing, or spiritual oil, I think there can sometimes be this idea that you need to know exactly what you’re doing, have an elaborate altar setup, or follow a specific set of rules for the oil to have meaning. But that’s really not how I look at them.

At Venoura, I create ritual oils as something you can incorporate into the spiritual practices you already have—or use as a simple way to bring more intention into your everyday life.

Sometimes your ritual can be an entire ceremony. Other times, it can literally be a few drops of oil, a quiet moment, and a clear intention.

So, What Exactly Is a Ritual Oil?

Ritual oils are oils created with a specific spiritual intention in mind.

Each Venoura ritual oil is handcrafted around the energy and purpose of its collection. The herbs, oils, symbolism, and intentions behind each blend are chosen to complement what that collection represents—whether that’s protection and cleansing, love and beauty, sensuality and confidence, or prosperity and abundance.

But I also want to make something clear: the oil isn’t meant to replace your own intention.

I think of it more as a spiritual tool.

Your intention, prayer, petition, energy, and actions are still yours. The oil simply gives you something physical that helps you connect with what you’re calling in, releasing, or working toward.

And there are so many ways you can use one.

Use Your Ritual Oil on the Body

One of the easiest ways to incorporate a ritual oil into your routine is to apply it to the body according to the product's directions.

This is especially beautiful after bathing or showering because you can turn something you already do every day into a small moment of intention.

Instead of immediately rushing into the next part of your day, take a moment.

Apply your oil. Think about what you want to embody. Say an affirmation, prayer, or intention if that feels natural to you.

For example, when using Aphrodite’s Kiss, your intention might center around beauty, self-love, attraction, glamour, or feeling radiant in your own skin.

With Soft Allure, you might focus on sensuality, confidence, softness, magnetism, and becoming more comfortable with being seen and desired.

The point isn’t to say the “perfect” words. It’s to actually connect with what those words mean to you.

Dress Candles With Your Oil

This is probably one of my favorite ways to use ritual oils.

If candle work is already part of your spiritual practice, you can use a small amount of ritual oil to dress a candle before burning it.

Your candle can represent the intention you’re working toward, while the oil becomes another layer of that intention.

You can also pair the oil with corresponding herbs, petitions, colors, symbols, or other spiritual tools that make sense within your personal practice.

For prosperity work, for example, you might use Fortuna’s Empire while focusing on money, business growth, new opportunities, favorable outcomes, or opening yourself to greater abundance.

It doesn’t always have to be “I want more money,” either.

Prosperity can mean having enough. Being supported. Receiving opportunities. Building something successful. Having the resources to actually enjoy your life.

Give your intention some depth.

Use Ritual Oils With Written Petitions

This is another really simple practice.

Write down what you’re asking for, calling in, releasing, or committing yourself to. It can be extremely specific or just a few words.

You can lightly apply your ritual oil to the corners of your petition before placing it on your altar, beneath a candle, or somewhere meaningful within your spiritual space.

I personally love written petitions because they force you to actually put your intention into words.

What do you want?

What are you trying to change?

What are you ready to release?

What kind of energy are you trying to embody?

Sometimes writing it down makes you realize your intention is completely different from what you originally thought.

Add Them to Your Altar or Spiritual Space

You can also simply keep your ritual oil on your altar.

Not everything has to be actively used every single day.

Your oil can sit alongside candles, crystals, herbs, tarot or oracle cards, deity imagery, offerings, petitions, or other spiritual items that are meaningful to you.

You can reach for it whenever you're doing spiritual work connected to that particular intention.

Over time, it can become part of the visual language of your altar—a reminder of the energy you're consciously cultivating.

Use Them Before Tarot, Journaling, or Meditation

Ritual oils can also help create a transition between your everyday mindset and your spiritual practice.

Before pulling tarot cards, journaling, meditating, praying, or sitting at your altar, take a moment with your oil.

Rather than jumping straight into your practice while your mind is still thinking about texts, emails, work, bills, or everything else going on, use that moment to mentally shift gears.

Ask yourself:

What am I here for right now?

Maybe you need clarity.

Maybe you need protection.

Maybe you need confidence.

Maybe you need to release something.

Maybe you just need ten quiet minutes where you're completely present with yourself.

That alone can become a ritual.

Choose Your Oil Based on What You Need

Each of Venoura’s four signature collections carries a different intention, so you can choose your ritual oil based on what you're currently working through or calling into your life.

Pure Reset is for cleansing, protection, banishment, releasing stagnant energy, and starting again. I think of this as the oil for those moments when something simply needs to go—old energy, heaviness, attachments, habits, situations, or whatever has been making you feel spiritually stuck.

Aphrodite’s Kiss centers around love, beauty, glamour, attraction, self-love, radiance, and Venusian energy. This is for reconnecting with your beauty and allowing yourself to feel desirable, worthy, luxurious, and loved.

Soft Allure is softer, sensual, and magnetic. Its intention revolves around confidence, sensuality, self-devotion, feminine energy, and attraction. It’s less about chasing attention and more about becoming deeply comfortable within your own presence.

Fortuna’s Empire focuses on prosperity, wealth, luck, opportunity, career and business growth, abundance, and favorable outcomes. This is the oil I would reach for when working toward expansion—especially when you’re actively building something and want your spiritual work to support the practical work you’re already doing.

You Don’t Need a Perfect Ritual

This might be the most important thing I can say.

Your spiritual practice doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

You don’t need a picture-perfect altar. You don’t need twenty different tools. You don’t need to memorize a complicated incantation. And you definitely don’t need to perform spirituality for social media.

Your ritual can be private.

It can be quiet.

It can change depending on what you need that day.

Some days you might light candles, dress them with oil, burn incense, pull cards, write a petition, and spend an hour at your altar.

Other days you might apply your ritual oil after your shower, look at yourself in the mirror, and say:

I know what I deserve.

And that’s the entire ritual.

That’s what I want Venoura to represent.

Not spirituality as something separate from your everyday life, but something you can weave into it. Your bath. Your body care. Your beauty routine. Your altar. Your quiet moments. Your goals. Your healing. Your relationship with yourself.

Because ritual doesn’t always have to be elaborate to be meaningful.

Sometimes, it’s simply the moment you decide to move with intention.
